May 4 to May 7, 2007 A Closed-loop Supply Chain Model for Managing Overall Optimization of Eco-efficiency Wei D. Solvang, Ziqiong Deng, Bjoern Solvang Department of Industrial Engineering, Narvik University College, Norway Abstract The focus and scope of environmental care has been extended over the past four decades. More and more attention has been attached to pollution prevention and minimization rather than end-of-pipe pollution control. It is believed that there is an optimized break-even point where more goods and services are created with fewer resources, less waste and pollution. This point is termed eco-efficiency. This paper discusses, firstly, the major challenges of managing eco-efficiency in the context of a supply chain. The challenges in optimization of eco-efficiency are also addressed. The disadvantages of applying traditional supply chain models in managing overall optimization of eco-efficiency are analyzed. A closed-loop supply chain model is proposed. Suggestions on future works are given at the end of this paper. The focus and scope of environmental care has been extended over the past four decades. Managing Environmentally Conscious in Designing Closed-loop Supply Chain for the Paper Industry
High amounts of waste paper are disposed of every year in Iran posing the health hazard and environmental damages instead of being recovered. Collection, recovery and proper disposal of waste paper without damaging the environment need to design an efficient closed-loop supply chain network. The main objective of this paper is introducing a bi-objective, multi-echelon, multi-product and single-...
متن کاملA Collaborative Stochastic Closed-loop Supply Chain Network Design for Tire Industry
Recent papers in the concept of Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) have seen a rapid development in applying the stochastic models to get closer to real-world applications. Regaring the special characteristics of each product, the stracture of SCND varies. In tire industry, the recycling and remanufacturing of scraped tires lead to design a closed-loop supply chain. This paper proposes a two-st...
متن کاملA Bi-objective Mathematical Model for Closed-loop Supply Chain Network Design Problem
In this paper, a bi-objective mixed-integer linear optimization model for Closed-loop Supply Chain Network Design Problem (CLSCND) is developed. The proposed model includes both the forward and reverse directions and includes different types of facilities, namely, manufacturing/remanufacturing centers, warehouses, and disassembly centers. The first objective function tried to minimize the total...
متن کاملAn Inexact-Fuzzy-Stochastic Optimization Model for a Closed Loop Supply Chain Network Design Problem
The development of optimization and mathematical models for closed loop supply chain (CLSC) design has attracted considerable interest over the past decades. However, the uncertainties that are inherent in the network design and the complex interactions among various uncertain parameters are challenging the capabilities of the developed tools. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to propose a n...
متن کاملMulti-objective robust optimization model for social responsible closed-loop supply chain solved by non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm
In this study a supply chain network design model has been developed considering both forward and reverse flows through the supply chain. Total Cost, environmental factors such as CO2 emission, and social factors such as employment and fairness in providing job opportunities are considered in three separate objective functions. The model seeks to optimize the facility location proble...
